Abel Mountain Campground is a beautiful location and has clean facilities. Driving through Vermont during early spring my husband and I decided to stop at this campground due to its high trip advisory rating and location. It is located centrally in Vermont to make it the perfect launching point for touring. We originally payed for two nights, then discovered how great the facilities and location were we stayed for an additional two nights.

The hosts are helpful with activities in the local area and are considerate of needs. In fact we were staying during Mother's day and they gave each woman a carnation.

Awesome campground with wonderful staff! Sylvia was warm and inviting when I stepped into the office last night. They had a community fire burning and we hung got to warm up in front of it. Also, the shower/bath room was immaculately clean and the water was HOT!

Location is central. Waterbury 45min. Burlington 1 hour. Montpelier 30min. Woodstock 40min.

Lots of hiking trails, playground, laundry, and all facilities are super clean and up to date! We can't wait to go back next year!

Great place. The sites are huge. They are all open every sites, but there's so much room, it's not a problem. The river is cold, but tubing it was fun. Overall, the park is very quiet and a great place to stay for a weekend or longer.

Cell phone coverage is minimal, but the idea of camping is to get away from technology.

Behind the office is a small bridge over the creek with a small amount of hiking trails that look perfect for kids to explore.

Cons

Overall fantastic campground!

Very nice campground. The owners are polite and sociable. The campground is clean and well kept. Very family oriented and pet friendly. Will continue to camp there frequently. Looking to become a seasonal resident at Abel Mountain.

Pros

I would definitely recommend this campground!

The campground has nice flat grassy camp spots, no camping on gravel. There is with each site a fire pit, picnic table, water, electric, cable, and some sites sewer. The campground has a playground, picnic pavilion, and communal fire pit. Friday night we were invited to the communal fire. They sale firewood and have a laundry house. The bathrooms are centrally located and well lit at night. These bathrooms were the cleanest for a campground I have seen. The shower stalls each had a changing area attached with plenty of hooks. Also plenty of hot water.
